KUJE CHAIRMAN TO SPONSOR WAEC, JAMB FEES FOR STUDENTS WHO EXCELLED AT AFRICAN INVENTORS COMPETITION

The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has pledged to pay the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) fees for four students of the FCT Department of Mass Education, Vocational Enterprise Institute, who secured third position at the African Nexora Nexus Inventors Competition held recently in South Africa.

The students — Adejunmobi Adebimpe Sarah-Praise, Evelyn Abu, Albert Abubakar and Doherty David Olamide — were received by the Chairman following their remarkable achievement at the continental competition.

While congratulating the students, Hon. Shekwolo described their performance as a source of pride to Kuje Area Council and Nigeria at large. He commended them for showcasing their talents and ingenuity on an international platform and assured them of his administration's support for their educational advancement.

The Chairman emphasised the growing importance of science and technology education in the modern world, noting that practical and innovation-driven learning is essential to preparing young people for future opportunities.

He also urged teachers to intensify efforts to equip students with relevant practical knowledge and skills that would enable them to identify problems, develop innovative solutions and compete favourably on the global stage.

The African Nexora Nexus Inventors Competition, sponsored by ExxonMobil STEM Africa, reportedly attracted over 1,000 participants from across the African sub-region, providing a platform for young innovators to demonstrate their creativity, technical skills and problem-solving abilities.

The achievement of the four students highlights the potential of young people in Kuje and the FCT to contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement and technological development when given the right education, encouragement and opportunities.

The Chairman's pledge to support the students with their WAEC and JAMB fees further underscores the importance of investing in education and nurturing young talents for a brighter future.
